The chirotherapist can loosen the blockade by certain manual methods or by gentle twisting. Hereby a nerve stimulus is probably stopped for a short moment, the muscle tension lessens and the joint is freed. The therapist places only minimal pressure on the joint, nevertheless this produces a clearly audible cracking of the joints. The chirotherapist uses a similar method to ease pains coming from knee, elbow or hip joints.
