Foot

fuss_schmerz2 Assuming average life expectancy and reasonably good health, our feet will carry us around 120,000 kilometers in the course of our lives.
At this rate, it is no wonder that almost all of us will sooner or later experience foot pain. The most common causes of foot pain include: stress and strain, the wrong shoes, accidents, circulatory disorders, diabetes, and congenital misalignment.

In addition to foot pain, there are also the problems that can turn up elsewhere in the musculoskeletal system as a result of misalignment and faulty load management in the feet.

Foot pain

Fuss_Schmerz

The upright gait takes its toll. It is a considerable stress for our locomotor system and in particular for our feet. They carry the whole bodyweight and walk an average of 5,000 steps a day. It is also true that modern leisure-time activities, e.g. sports, and the use of high-heeled and uncomfortable footwear, make us more prone to sore feet.

Heel Spurs

How do I know if my foot pain is being caused by a calcaneal spur?

A calcaneal spur (or heel spur) can cause sharp, immobilizing pain in back of the heel bone (calcaneus) or under the heel bone. Although the pain tends to subside when we rest, it can be especially intense when we begin to walk after periods of rest. If we then continue to walk despite the pain, it will likely begin to subside again.

Splay Feet

schnefsseWith a splay foot, the transverse bulge of the forefoot disappears, causing, according to the degree of severity, the foot to be strained in places not used to pressure. The forefoot is broadened and the metatarsal bones splay fan-shaped.

Haglund's Deformity

haglund.jpg This condition often involves a prominent bump at the back of the heel bone (calcaneus), calcification at the point where the Achilles tendon attaches to the heel bone and inflammation in the surrounding soft tissue. Shoe pressure can lead to considerable discomfort, especially in people with high arches (pes cavus). This discomfort is often accompanied by the sudden occurrence of a sharp, stabbing pain.

Hammer-toe/Claw foot

A hammer toe or in more marked cases called claw foot, is a toe malposition of two to four toes that results from an imbalance of phalanges (toe bones) and soft-tissue. The skeleton of the affected toes is too long in relation to the soft-tissue coating, leading to a, often deforming, protrusion of the middle interphalangeal joint. The malposition causes painful inflammations and also causes problems with shoes.

High Arches

The hollow foot is mostly a congential malposition with a marked protrusion from the heel to the toes. Due to the profound shortage, the foot becomes unelastic and pressure sores, calluses and corns occur.

Hamstring

What is the Achilles tendon? What function does it have?

The Achilles tendon is the strongest tendon in the human body. She is an average of 20-25 cm long and connects (the joint terminal tendon of the three-headed calf muscle) muscles of the calves ¬ on their approach to the heel bone of the foot. It ensures that the foot is the impression from the floor in the ankle bent back and sole of the foot turned slightly inward.

Hallux Rigidus

hallux_rigidus_real.jpgHallux rigidus (stiff big toe) is a disorder that is typically associated with degenerative arthritis (osteoarthritis) in the large joint at the base of the big toe. Given the limited ability of the toe to move and permit the foot to roll through a full step, walking can become painful and difficult. As those who suffer from hallux rigidus begin to alter the way they walk, they may experience pain on the outside edge of the foot.
